Anyone who sets off early for a long ride knows the feeling: in the first hours over a mountain pass or through a misty valley, the cold cuts straight through your riding gear. The Klim Override eFire Jacket is a heated mid-layer that makes exactly that difference. It combines lightweight stretch insulation with electric heating you switch on when you need it, while staying slim enough to wear comfortably under your adventure jacket.
Three heating panels warm the areas where you lose the most heat on the bike: one on each side of the chest and one horizontal panel high on the back. Using the illuminated push button on the upper right chest, you select the heat setting. The colour of the light shows which setting is active, and the light is dimmable so it won't distract you in the dark. The button is deliberately placed out of the way of backpack or hydration pack shoulder straps.
Off-road riding is physical work. A technical section through rocks or mud quickly makes you sweat, while you cool down again once you're back on the tarmac. The Override eFire handles those changes with breathable 60 gram stretch insulation and a moisture-wicking lining, so heat and moisture don't build up under your motorcycle jacket. The stretch chassis moves with you when you ride standing up, and the improved heating elements stay quiet while riding.
On a long journey, every litre of luggage space counts. The insulation is light, hypoallergenic and highly compressible, so the jacket disappears easily into a top case or tank bag once it warms up. The 20D ripstop nylon shell with DWR treatment sheds a rain shower or wet snow, useful during a break next to the bike. For truly bad weather, the jacket is designed to be worn under a GORE-TEX motorcycle jacket. Reflective details made from 3M Scotchlite Carbon Black add visibility when you pitch your tent or refuel at dusk.
A heated jacket should last as long as the rest of your gear. Klim uses YKK zippers, a draft flap behind the main zipper and a zipper garage at the chin for next-to-skin comfort. You charge the USB-C battery through a USB port on your motorcycle or with a power bank, and an LED indicator shows how much capacity remains. Replacement batteries are available separately, so you can carry a spare on multi-day trips and don't have to write off the jacket when a battery wears out after years of use. Remove the battery from its dedicated pocket and the jacket can simply go in the washing machine and dryer.
