You know that moment on a cold morning when, half an hour in, your fingers are so stiff you can barely feel the clutch? The Gerbing Xtreme Air is a heated motorcycle glove made for exactly that. It takes its heat from your bike's battery or from separate battery packs, so you keep riding with warm hands through the cold months.

Heat where you need it The MicrowirePro Xtreme heating system puts out 28 watts per pair. The heat runs the full length of your fingers, across your thumb and over the back of your hand, the parts that cool down first in the wind. Gerbing points out that at 100 km/h, 0 °C already feels like minus 11 degrees. The built-in control on each glove gives you three heat settings, so you turn it down when the sun breaks through and up when the road climbs into the mountains.

Bike battery or battery packs On long days you plug the gloves straight into your motorcycle's 12V battery. They stay warm for as long as the engine runs, and there are no batteries to charge at the campsite in the evening. For that connection you use the Gerbing Connection Kit with its battery cable and Y-cable. Prefer to ride without cables, or want to walk around during a stop? Then the gloves also run on Gerbing's separate 7V or 12V battery packs. They sit in external battery pockets, so swapping them on the road is quick. Depending on the setting, they give two to five hours of heat. A 12V source makes the glove warmer than a 7V battery.

Protection and comfort for long days The palm is goatskin leather for grip on the bars and a long service life. The back of the hand is nylon textile that moves with your hand and resists abrasion. A flexible shell protects your knuckles, and the long cuffs keep the wind out at your wrists. Inside, a Hipora membrane keeps water and wind out while letting moisture escape, and Thinsulate insulation holds the warmth in. The touchscreen index finger lets you use your navigation or phone without taking a glove off. The Xtreme Air is CE certified as a motorcycle glove to EN 13594:2015.

Making them last After hours of heavy rain the outer fabric can get saturated, even though the membrane keeps your hands dry. Gerbing therefore recommends treating the gloves regularly with a waterproofing product. Gerbing backs the MicrowirePRO heating elements with a lifetime manufacturer's warranty, good to know when you plan to ride the same gloves for years.

Choosing your size The Xtreme Air comes in XXS up to 3XL. Measure around your hand at its widest point, leaving out the thumb. If you fall right between two sizes, go for the larger one so the heating elements don't press anywhere.
