The Barkbusters BHG-160 Hardware Kit is the mounting kit for strong aluminium handguards on the World Raid from model year 2026, ready for the Barkbusters guards of your choice.
Made for the 2026 World Raid Barkbusters designed this kit specifically for the Yamaha XTZ700 Ténéré World Raid from model year 2026, to Yamaha's own specifications, and calls it easy to fit. For a 2022 to 2025 World Raid, Barkbusters lists the BHG-113.
Two mounting points for real protection The aluminium bar, the backbone, is heat treated for extra strength and wraps around your lever in one piece. It is held by a clamp on the handlebar and at the bar end. That way it shields your hands and your brake and clutch levers when you clip a branch or drop the bike. If you want impact protection, Barkbusters recommends a two point mount like this one, because its single point mounts are not designed for it.
Everything you need to fit it The kit contains the left and right backbone, the handlebar clamps, two bar end weights and all bolts, nuts, spacers and washers. The original bar end weights come off, as do any original handguards. The plastic guards are not included, so you choose and buy them separately.
Choose your guards The kit works with four types of Barkbusters guards. The VPS has wind deflectors that fit in two positions, or come off in minutes for a more compact guard. The STORM is designed for excellent protection from wind and cold, welcome on chilly mornings in the mountains. The JET comes in a wide range of colours to match popular bikes. All three are made of impact resistant plastic. The CARBON is hand laid carbon fibre with a glossy, UV stable finish, but Barkbusters does not recommend it for off road riding. Riding lots of dirt? Pick the VPS, STORM or JET.
Fitting and checks Since the job involves your controls, Barkbusters recommends having it done by a motorcycle technician. Stick to the torque settings in the instructions and use a medium strength liquid thread lock. Leave about 3 mm between the end of your throttle grip and the handguard, so the throttle closes freely, then check that the throttle, front brake, clutch and kill switch work properly. After the first 50 km, check that every bolt is still tight, and repeat that now and then. With heated grips you may need 3 mm of washers between the bar end weight and the spacer.
Made in Australia Barkbusters makes the kit in Australia. Because the guards are sold separately, you only replace the guard that got damaged. That saves money and waste.
