The Outback Motortek Heavy Duty Skid Plate for the KTM 790 and 890 Adventure is designed for riders who push their motorcycle hard in demanding off-road conditions. Developed for the 2023 KTM 790 and 890 Adventure models and fully compatible with earlier model years, this skid plate offers uncompromising engine and underbody protection for true adventure riding.
Manufactured from 5 mm thick aluminium and finished with a black powder coat over a sandblasted surface, this skid plate combines strength with durability. It has been drop-tested and drag-tested to simulate real-world impacts, tip-overs, and hard landings encountered during technical off-road riding. With a total weight of 6.5 kg, it provides maximum protection without unnecessary bulk.
Unlike engine-mounted designs, this skid plate is fully frame-mounted, meaning all impacts are absorbed by the frame rather than the engine casing. Outback Motortek also offers a unique solution with full-length support tubing, making this the only skid plate on the market that supports the KTM 790/890 Adventure along its entire length. This significantly increases rigidity and impact resistance.
Large ventilation cut-outs are integrated to ensure proper airflow and effective engine cooling, even during slow and technical riding. The skid plate also provides extended protection for the catalytic converter, a known vulnerable area when riding off-road.
All mounting bolts are fully recessed into the bottom of the skid plate, eliminating the risk of bolts catching on rocks or being sheared off. The design is centre stand compatible and works seamlessly with the Outback Motortek centre stand.
