The Honda CB500X heat shield is designed to offer protection for soft bags, soft panniers by keeping it away from the exhaust muffler in order to avoid direct contact.
Made of 4mm thick aluminum.
Important note: Due to the shape and location of the original Honda exhaust muffler, your soft pannier may be exposed to extreme heat. The heat shield’s primary purpose is to keep soft panniers from coming in contact with the exhaust muffler, not to deflect exhaust fumes. A solution may be to upgrade to a shorter aftermarket exhaust muffler or the installation of a downward deflector.
